The Dream

Cathy Watterson is our owner and chief designer. Hoping to be a fashion designer, she majored in art at a small midwestern university, where she met her husband. In 1976, she became a single mom of two children under four, postponing her fashion aspirations.

The Prince

Twelve years after becoming a single mom, she met her "prince" (which is her favorite story to tell). They combined their families with five teenage children. Since they married, Cathy ran an interior design business, where she continued to hone her love of beautiful fabrics and simple, uncluttered style. Although she earned recognition in the field, she knew the fashion industry was her passion.

The Inspiration

She and her husband, an international management consultant, have traveled together around the world. It was during these trips that the idea for Allure Inside Out™ was born. Cathy had looked everywhere for pretty sleepwear to wear on their trips. Most designs seemed to be suited for a younger, ideal figure. She was frustrated in finding something flattering and stylish, especially in natural fibers.

The Vision

Determined to better understand clothing construction beyond her personal sewing skills, she enrolled in Virginia Marti College of Art and Design, a local college for fashion design, where she trained in the couture method of fashion design. Her vision became a real possibility as she saw the opportunity to create something exciting for herself and other women.

The Plan

After searching for fine silk from Italy to Asia, she selected the luxurious silks made in the "Venice of China" to express her designs. Thirty five years after sidetracking her aspirations of becoming a fashion designer, she began to offer luscious styles in sensuous and natural fibers to women of many shapes and sizes.

We are proud to include the sexy and passionate women you see on our web site, who are not all professional models, but are also Role Models. They are involved in varied careers from full time moms to attorneys and therapists and even a record producer! It IS more than a style; it’s definitely an attitude!

We’ve even included the measurements of our non-professional models, so you can better judge your own size with the size charts as a basic guide. Since many of us are different sizes on top and bottom, we have chosen to offer our styles as separates, so you may order among the different sizes to fit you best.
