Allure Inside Out Adds Fashion
The problem with most women's wear is that it tends to be either too bare or too matronly,
said Cathy Watterson, president of Allure Inside Out of Chagrin Falls, OH. Allure Inside Out is trying
to change that with its pure silk line of sleepwear, which also works well as night wear and for travel.
"I was looking for a more classic look and not finding it," Watterson said. "I figured that there must
be other women out there besides me, so I designed something that would fit a real woman with real curves.
Our main goal was to create something classic and elegant that's a little sassy without being vulgar.
Many of Allure's silhouettes are simple and uncluttered, offering a timeless look which does a good job
at hiding bulges, Watterson said.
Some of Allure's line includes black and white color combinations, which lend the silk garments a classic look
and can be worn in many different settings, or soft pastels for the new Spring 2007 Collection.
Gowns come with short sleeves, peek-a-boo shoulder or spaghetti straps. Another popular look is the tunic,
which comes in a soft lavendar, and can be worn over pants.
For Holiday, Allure is featuring jewel tones in pieces such as a long sleeved mandarin collar top
with pleated pants as well as cobalt colored V-neck night shirt.
Allure is also introducing a new cashmere/silk blend wrap that is good for staying in bed or going out,
Watterson said. The company also sells exclusive hand painted caftans and over blouses.
Wholsale prices range from $33 to $88.
"We are marketing to upscale boutiques and high end department stores. We like to keep the line
exclusive," Watterson said.
Right now, the company sells up to size 16, but beginning this August, sizes will run from two to 20.
Plans for 2007 include adding petites. -L.L.
